New boat. Not sure of name yet but it's a GP14 sailing dinghy.

So we decided we wanted to learn to sail seeing as dignity is a sailing boat without sails, it would be nice to one day return her to former sailing glory.

In order to learn we wanted a dinghy, looked around and found a gp 14 on eBay for £123 and some sails on Gumtree for £50.

We collected the boat on Sunday and getting the sails on Saturday. She's an early gp14, there's a number on there somewhere but haven't spotted it yet. The guy we bought it off said he spoke to the gp14 club and they aged it at 1957. However, it's spent about 50 of its years indoors complete with cover so the boat is in really good condition.

Last year it was outside and so the varnish had started to bubble and look tired. So we giving her a rub down, fresh varnish, recoat the hull in white and tidy the trailer up. Then she should be ready to sail again.

In all we have got a really nice boat here for not a lot of money. Very happy. Hope to have her back on the water in no time.

Llangollen Canal - to the Shropshire Union Canal

Today we travelled the rest of the Llangollen canal to Hurlston Locks (flight of 5) where it joins the Shropshire Union Canal which travels from Elsemere port through Chester and up to Birmingham.
Sadly Elsemere port no longer locks boats out onto the river Mersey else we might be moored in the Albert dock tonight. Instead we've pulled up at Audlem where there is a marina with a slipway. We will go and fetch the car and bring the boat off tomorrow.
Not many photos today as I was asleep for most of it.

Llangollen Canal - Highest aqua duct in Uk

Well, we have done it. From where we launched to the end of Llangollen Canal and half way back to where we started. Aiming to push on further back towards England tomorrow.
The views from both aquaducts was fantastic and the tunnels were amazing. Very much worth the journey. Super tired now hitting 36hrs. Moored up ready for bed. Big day ahead.
